Students allege mistakes in MU question paper

PATNA: Girl examinees of chemistry honours part 1 of J D Women's College have taken strong exception to glaring mistakes in the questions asked in organic chemistry paper's examination of the Magadh University.

The girls who appeared in the examination at B D College centre here on Wednesday said the university should ensure that those students who attempted these questions were awarded full marks. For otherwise, they claimed, they would be deprived of marks in this paper for no fault of theirs.

Jagriti Choudhary, Anupriya and Sonali, all examinees, said that question numbers 6 (c), 7 and 8 under Group B of the question paper were replete with mistakes. "How could an examinee give answer when question number 7 was incomplete?" asked Jagriti, adding this particular question carried 10 marks.

According to Anupriya and Sonali, questions carrying 20 marks out of 50 marks of Group B were either faulty or incomplete. "The examiners, instead of deducting marks for not answering these questions properly, should be lenient," they said, adding careers of several bright students of chemistry honours would otherwise be affected.

Incidentally, it was not the solitary instance of glaring mistakes in question papers of BSc honours level. There were some mistakes in the question papers of BA part 1 English honours too, which caused confusion among examinees, the aggrieved examinees said.

When contacted, an MU official at the Examination Control Room said the matter had been brought to the knowledge of university and appropriate action would be taken. The university would ensure that mistakes were not made in future, he said.Source : Click here
