Engg aspirants to get another

LUCKNOW:The Central Admission Board on Sunday decided that aspirants who have qualified State Entrance Test 2011 and took part in document verification of first round of counselling will be given another chance to take admissions in the technical colleges affiliated to Gautam Buddh Technical University and Mahamaya Technical University (MTU).

According to MTU vice chancellor Prof S Kak, candidates who have already taken admission can also participate in the second round of counselling. "Since many more institutions are now added to the list and seats in many existing colleges have increased, a student can look for a better college," said Prof Kak. It is to be mentioned that technical colleges in the state are reeling under acute shortage of students.

This year, only 82,000 aspirants qualified SEE for admissions to engineering institutions as against 1.14 lakh seats. Out of this, nearly 55% said good bye during document verification, leaving the number to 37,000. Finally, only 27,000 students joined the engineering colleges. The situation for management colleges is no better. Only 4,939 candidates have taken admission in management colleges in the state. Source: Click here
